How to Spend the 4th of July Weekend in LoDo: Fireworks, Baseball, and Three Days of Summer in Denver

The United States turns 250 this year, and Denver is celebrating the only way LoDo knows how: baseball, fireworks, and cold drinks within walking distance of the ballpark. The Rockies host the San Francisco Giants for three games at Coors Field over the weekend—Friday and Saturday at 6:10 p.m. with postgame fireworks, and Sunday at 2 p.m. for the series closer. (As of late June, tickets are still available for all three games.) Between the stadium, McGregor Square, Dairy Block, Larimer Square, Denver Union Station, and the rest of LoDo, everything you need for the weekend is within a few blocks.

Pre-Game Drinks and Bites

If you’re looking for a little more than a hot dog and a Coors Light, here are nine places for drinks and bites before you head to the stadium.

Kachina Cantina
Kachina is hosting Cheers to 250 Years celebration on the 4th with red, white, and blue frozen margarita flights and a new menu built around blue corn tortillas, tuna macha, and taco platters. Opens at 11 a.m.

G-Que BBQ at McGregor Square Food & Drink
Competition-winning barbecue inside McGregor Square’s food hall. If you’re looking for something besides barbeque, McGregor Square Food & Drink has you covered with Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta, C Burger, Tora Sushi + Ramen, Ta-Co Mucho Bueno, and High Point Creamery.

Carmine’s
This Denver staple serves authentic Italian right next to Coors Field. Opens at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, which leaves just enough time for garlic bread knots, meatballs, or a quick bowl of pasta before first pitch.

Ultreia
Spanish tapas and Portuguese petiscos inside Union Station; the Jamonburguesa (a double smash cheeseburger) won Judge’s Choice at the 2024 Denver Burger Battle, and happy hour runs 3 to 6 p.m.

Seven Grand
More than 700 whiskeys in a dark, handsome room inside Dairy Block, for the kind of pre-game pour that is a little more sophisticated than a 24-ounce can of Bud.

Westbound and Down Brewing
A Colorado favorite at the Free Market at Dairy Block, with a rotating tap list and a laid-back setting that works perfectly with a bite from the adjacent Denver Milk Market.

Bedlam
A family-run cocktail bar on Wazee that opened in 2024 and quickly became a neighborhood stalwart, with everything from craft cocktails and imported charcuterie to brews and billiards. Opens at 4:30 p.m. (and stays open until 2 a.m if you’re looking for a nightcap).

Emerald Eye
This subterranean bar in Larimer Square has an agave and rum focus, and the dark, tropical-feeling vibe feels like a different world from Coors Field.

Cooper Lounge
A sophisticated cocktail lounge on the mezzanine above Union Station’s Great Hall, and the most elevated pre-game option on this list. Consider making a reservation during the holiday weekend.

Watching the Fireworks Without a Ticket

You don’t need to be inside Coors Field to see the main event—the postgame fireworks will be visible from rooftops, patios, and plazas across LoDo. Here’s where to see the show.

McGregor Square
The open-air plaza directly across the street from Coors Field is the closest public viewing spot outside the stadium.

Denver Union Station
The renowned plaza in front of Union Station offers an open sightline toward the stadium and a comfortable place to gather without the density of the blocks immediately around Coors Field.

ViewHouse Ballpark
The rooftop at this restaurant/bar turns into a party on fireworks nights, with DJs and a rowdy crowd.

Jackson’s LoDo
Directly across from the stadium with an open-air rooftop patio. This is about as close as you can get to the fireworks without walking through the Coors Field gates.

Tap Fourteen
A rooftop beer garden half a block from Coors Field with 70 Colorado craft beers on tap and one of the city’s largest collections of Colorado whiskey.

Belles & Boots
A country bar that opened a little more than a year ago in the former Sports Column space with a rooftop lounge—and a mechanical bull, if that’s your thing.

Woodie Fisher
Denver’s oldest standing fire station, now a restaurant and bar near Union Station, where the patio (known as The Deck) runs gameday specials and is a perfect place to take in the fireworks.
